US Redditor offering €110 to the person who finds ancestors' Dublin home

A architecture-themed mystery to work your brain over this morning.

CALLING ALL ARCHITECTURE enthusiasts – can you identify the location of this Dublin house?

US Reddit user lludson is offering to Paypal $150 (€110) to the person who helps her friend track down the homeplace of his Irish ancestors, who lived in this Dublin building some time in the 1920s or early 1930s.

She appealed to Reddit Ireland users to help her identify the house on Google Maps:

My friend landed in Dublin today and is there for 10 days. His great grandparents lived in Dublin, and this is the only picture he has of them. Would very much appreciate it if you locals recognise the architecture and have an idea where it is and even pin it down. I will Paypal the first person to post it or contact me with the location.

Her friend’s great grandmother is the old woman in the photo, who is believed to have been visiting family in Dublin from Michigan at the time it was taken.

Her name was Rose Ann Carson, and [she] married Horace Decker on April 5, 1893 in Detroit. She was born about 1863 in Ireland. She died March 5, 1938 in Lansing, Michigan, USA. My friend says this image is likely in the 1920s or early thirties.

The fact that similar architecture can be seen pretty much all over Dublin is making things difficult, but a valiant effort has been made so far.

The original poster picked out this house on Wolseley Street, which is extremely close to the house in the picture:

This Redditor suggested the houses on Richmond Road as a match:

Similar architecture also pops up in the Leo Street/St Joseph’s Street area, according to Redditor triGuitar:

Can you identify the area? The thread gives more detail about the history of the family, including marriage records and other documents.

Redditor josephmcginley compiled a list of the house’s distinguishing features, which you can read here.
